What To Expect

How do we dress?

The dress at Windy City is casual. Some people dress up a little bit, most wear jeans and a top. In the summer, shorts and sandals are the norm (with some kind of shirt, of course).

What are the people like?

We are an outgoing and friendly church. One thing we constantly hear from visitors is, it looks like people actualy enjoy church and want to be here.

What is the preaching like?

Our preaching style is expositional, what that means is we like to dissect the Bible. We usually take a book of the Bible and preach from beginning to end. We look at how God's word is still relevant and applicable to today.

What is our music like?

We believe we are created to worship God. And corporately we worship God through singing, in Zephaniah 3:17 we see that God sings over us. We also see in scripture over 400 references to singing and 50 direct commands to sing. We're commanded twice in the New Testament to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16). What we don't learn much about in scripture is how we acompany our singing. The scripture leaves this up to us, to create and use the gifts God has given us freely.

Our style is anything upbeat, passionate and contemporary. Our worship leader usually leads from guitar and the band can consist of drums, guitars, keyboards, violin and vocals to create an experience that connects your heart to God. We have two goals on Sunday mornings, one is to play loud enough so the rest of us can sing and no one around us can hear us. The other is that what ever we sing be truth, lead by scripture and sung to the only true triune God. God the Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and Holy Spirit.

It is our hope that when we sing, God will use what we sing to encourage us in the faith. That during the week when we are away from the body we will remember what we sang last Sunday. And songs like "How Great is Our God", "Holy is the Lord" and "Amazing Grace" will flow through your mind and heart and you will worship God everyday of the week.
