VOLUNTEER role descriptions

Thanks for your interest in using your spiritual gifts, talents and time to serve the Windy City community and guests!

  • Parking TEAM director // Parking team members

    DIRECTOR ROLE: Do you love the outdoors and making people feel welcome? Can you recruit and lead a weekly team? With limited street parking, we're in need of a volunteer Parking Director to oversee the Sunday morning parking process and signage.

    TEAM MEMBER: If you love the outdoors and are looking for a way to serve the church in a way that makes a huge different for newcomers and regular attenders, then this role may be for you. The team will meet as a group on Sunday mornings, then serve together before, partially during, and after the Sunday morning service.

  • Nursery help &/or Babysitter

    Do you enjoy holding babies and playing games with small children? We are in need of responsible people to volunteer their time in the Infants & Toddlers room on Sunday mornings on a rotation with other volunteers during the month. We also are in need of a few volunteer babysitters on Sunday mornings to watch children of the early-morning volunteers. Email Eileen for more details and to express interest.

  • Graphic designer

    Each week our service and outgoing communications rely on quality graphic design. Use your artistic talents to make graphics, flyers and other communication and promotional pieces. Email Nikki for more details.

  • band member

    We are in need of talented musicians who can play the guitar, drums, and all other instruments (including stringed instruments like chello and violin). Vocalists are needed, as well. Contact Pastor Adaline for more details and information about auditioning.

  • social committee Team members

    COMMITTEE MEMBER: Our new social committee will be in charge of all of our seasonal events like the Chili Cook-off! If you love to help bring people together by planning events this could be the team for you! Our goal is to continue to provide opportunities for our church to feel like family and to welcome in new people to the church into that fold.

  • greeter/usher

    We're always in need of more friendly and outgoing people to greet guests as they arrive and to make sure each person is welcomed and has a great first-impression of our church. Email Pastor Jen for more details and to express interest.

  • Communications guru

    Keeping our online presence and communication up-to-date is important to both members and potential guests, so we are in need of someone to take ownership of the calendar on our website, bi-monthly E-News and our Facebook page.

  • outreach & evangelism committee member

    In our current planning phase, we are in need of Windy City attenders who are interested in speaking into the future outreach & evangelism plans. Looking for people who are not only interested to share ideas, but also to  help implement and lead initiatives in the future. Contact Pastor Jen to express interest.

  • Jr. High TeaCHer for sunday mornings

    Our Jr. High team is looking for another leader in the monthly rotation of Sunday school teachers. You would serve with the 6th to 8th graders once a month, leading their curriculum lesson through the Bible, making space for their questions, and helping them to grow in their faith.   • Cafe team member

    The Cafe ministry of our church is without a doubt one of everyone's favorites! They are the ones that make sure our church is filled with the smell of coffee and our post-service Coffee Connect in the gym is stocked with tasty treats and more coffee. If you love food service and helping others feel welcome, this could be a great team for you! Each team member serves 1x each month on a rotation and on those weeks the role starts before church and goes through about 12:30pm.

  • sunday school teacher (Pre-k thru 5th grade)

    The children of our church and neighborhood are hungry to learn God's Word, which is why we have selected a brand-new curriculum this year from Group Publishing called "Diggin into the Bible in One Year." If you have a heart for teaching young kids about God, this could be the role for you! Each Sunday morning includes large group teaching where you will help guide and focus the children, then you'll have your own age group during the break-out time to lead in a special activity to help them engage even more. Training and plenty of encouragement will be provided! This role serves on a 1x month rotation. Email Eileen if interested in learning more. 

  • photographers

    Do you love capturing the moment on your camera? Do you have an eye for speaking "1,000 words" with each picture? This may be the role for you! Each week and season we different events going on at the church that we'd love to capture: Awana, Jr. High Take-Over Night, High School Ministry, Bible Studies, Life Groups, Sunday services, Coffee Connect and more. The person (or people) who serve as Photographer(s) will be invited to pick events that fit into their calendar to visit and capture film for use in our services, announcements, website and E-News.
