Windy City Church is run, almost literally, by our amazing volunteer team leaders! They take

ownership of so many areas of ministry that we had to brag about them a little bit here!

Brian and his wife Cari, along with their five children, have attended Windy City Community Church for over 15 years. Having served in the sound ministry from a young age (around 12 years old) at the church he grew up in, he found his place as a volunteer in the sound ministry at WCCC shortly after becoming a regular attender. He has had the opportunity to serve with many talented individuals on the team over the years. When not at church or home, Brian works as the Lead Senior Developer for a large online music gear retailer. "Having a strong penchant for technology since I was a kid, it is no wonder that God lead to a career as a programmer. I am very fortunate to be in a career that's not only fulfilling, but also really fun." Brian's goal for the sound team he leads at WCCC is to be passively heard and not seen. In other words, the sound should never be a distraction. "I absolutely love being involved with my church's sound ministry!  Our team gets to help deliver the Word of God on regular basis. How cool is that?!"

Carrie & STEVE> Welcome TEAM directorS

Steve & Carrie met in college and have been married just over 28 years. They have always lived in Chicago since being married and began attending WCCC in the spring of 1992. They have 2 adult children, Matthew 23, and Hannah 21. Steve works for Hilton Hotels and Carrie works at Trinity International University.

They have been involved in many different ministries during their time at WCCC. Having been part of the Sunday morning teams for a while, they are looking forward to taking more of a lead role in this ministry, overseeing the Greeters and Ushers. They feel that welcoming regular attenders and newcomers is a very important part of any church family.

Dennis has been a part of WCCC since it was conceived in a home Bible study. It has been a part of his life for over 30 years. In that time, In fact, he was an Elder for 27 years (20 of those, as the Chairman of the Elder Board), Church Treasurer, Bible teacher, care group leader, husband, father and friend. "I have been richly blessed by this community of believers that has been in continuous operation in this place for almost 100 years. We are walking the path that started here as Norwood Park Baptist Church in 1920 and merged with WCCC in 1997. Hundreds of men and women have come before us as teachers, ministers, club workers and care givers. We are here to continue the work of the Lord in the lives of everyone who passes through our doors or encounters us in our everyday lives. Most of the work we have to do is done in relationships. This is an exciting opportunity for me since much of what I have done in the past has been administrative and leadership, so this will be new. I look forward to this new role."

Don> Missions committee chair

Don began attending Windy City Community Church in the 1990’s. All his life he remembers having a desire to help missionaries in some way. When he was age 62 he had the opportunity to fulfill that desire personally. In 2000 he went to the Philippines to serve at Faith Academy as a teacher putting his 27 years of teaching Special Ed and English experience at Glenbrook North High School to a new use. In addition to teaching at the public school, he has always loved teaching Bible classes. Since his return from the Philippines in 2007 Don has continued to teach the Bible in Sunday school classes and in small groups. Don has also served on the WCCC Missions Committee for a number of years.  "I love missions and I love encouraging and communicating with Windy City’s missionaries."

JESSE> Parking TEAM Director

Raised in a renovated school bus, parked in a dusty lot on the backstreets of El Paso Texas, Jesse Oxford was born to park cars.  His earliest memory (aged 3) is watching his parents paint “Christ is the Answer” on the side of the bus, and afterward he and his mother setting the destination above the front window to “Heaven.”  Today, this 36-year-old Chicago Creative Director has a pocketful of catchy phrases that have helped build his immunity to the cold, such as: “There’s no such thing as bad weather; only bad gear.” Jesse is eager to help guests find a great parking spot in the most efficient manner possible and along the way will likely share a joke or two with each new person he meets! Jesse and his wife Pastor Jen have been married for over 12 years.

Kathy> sunday cafe director

"Who doesn't like FREE!  Since the cafe's inception in 2005, I have had the honor of organizing this ministry's free hot beverages and tasty treats.  If a hot beverage or a cookie can help you feel welcome and noticed, then this ministry has accomplished one of its goals.  Another goal is to build community.  Serving on the cafe team provides a place for people to volunteer in an atmosphere that encourages relationship within and without the ministry." Kathy's years in the Cafe ministry are rivaled by the years she's also served in the children's ministry.  She has been serving there since her sport-loving husband and she began their family in 1992.  "Being able to say we have been at WCCC since 1990 makes me feel both old and honored."  The time here has been challenging and essential.  Her invitation for you: "Now that you know a little about me, please visit the coffee connection before and after church so I can learn something about you as we enjoy a FREE hot beverage and treat together."

krista> Elder care

Krista moved to the Chicago area from her home state of Michigan in 2011. Now living in Edison Park with her husband, Dan, she has been attending Windy City Community Church since the summer of 2017. With a love and compassion for people combined with her professional nursing experience, Krista is excited about her involvement in the Elderly Care Ministry at Windy City. “I love spending time, connecting with, and providing care for some of the greatest and wisest people in our community! I hope that through this ministry, the older population of Windy City will be blessed and feel God’s love and presence in their lives!”

Megan> SOCIAL EVENTS coordinator

Megan stepped into this new volunteer role in the fall of 2017, with her first event being our 1st Annual Cookie Decorating Contest during Christmas-time. She has a whole calendar of events planned for 2018! Megan grew up in the Chicago-land area and feels very fortunate to have found Windy City Church, just about a year and a half ago. She really enjoys reading and spending time with her husband Zach and family! Megan is excited to have this position because she loves helping to create events that bring our church family together to fellowship while having fun and learning more about each other.  "My hope and prayer is for our church to flourish and to bring in new members from our communities."

nancy> food pantry Director

On the last Tuesday of each month from 6:00pm to 8:00pm you'll find Nancy and her team at the Windy City Food Pantry greeting guests and helping to provide people and families in our area with the groceries they need. Windy City is proud to say the Food Pantry has been a ministry at WCCC for over 20 years! Today, fueled by a desire to help others, thousands of meals are provided each year by the outpouring of Nancy and her team's vision.

Rachael has called Windy City Church home since she was a baby. Rachael grew up attending Sunday services and being involved in various ministries throughout the years. She currently lives in Humboldt Park with two amazing roommates and works as a 3rd grade Teacher in a Chicago Christian School. Finding joy in serving others is what Rachael loves to do. This is seen in her faithful service in our media team for over 10 years. Her joy is to worship the Lord in all she does while making it easier for others to join into exalting the Lord Jesus Christ. Her prayer for our community is Ephesians 3 :16-21:  "that we may grasp how wide and long and high and deep the love of Christ is and may know this love that surpasses knowledge that we may be filled to the measure of fullness of God be the glory."
